Attorney

Margaret E. Bowles, Esq.

Recognized as a preeminent attorney in real estate transactions and land use, Margaret has over 20 years of legal experience representing clients in all aspects of real estate development, leasing and operations.  She has represented healthcare clients in buying and selling practices and real estate acquisition, leasing, and operations, with a particular emphasis on financing real estate and practice acquisitions.

Margaret has a diverse legal and business background, encompassing every aspect of commercial real estate law.  She graduated with distinction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.  Early in her career, she honed transactional skills as a municipal bond lawyer with a large regional law firm in Miami.  She later started her own firm and developed an international land use and transactional practice, with offices in Tampa and Boston, representing Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. as lead outside counsel in New England, Puerto Rico and Florida.  She was involved in the development of over 100 Wal-Mart Stores, handling land acquisition, land use, environmental and property management matters.   She appeared before dozens of city and town governmental bodies and agencies on behalf of Wal-Mart, successfully advocating for her client in hostile environments.  Her success earned her the prestigious AV Martindale-Hubbel rating from her peers as an esteemed attorney in her field.

In 2003, she changed course, joining Wachovia Bank in the investment banking division as vice president to the large loan syndication and investment tax credit divisions.  Her Wachovia experience exposed her to the intricacies of lending, underwriting, and financial analysis that further broadened her real estate and business skills.  She later joined a large REIT in Houston as in-house counsel to the Florida and Mexico development teams handling acquisitions and leasing.  After the economic downturn, in 2011, she returned to a solo real estate practice in Tampa representing several private equity clients in real estate financing, leasing and acquisitions. Margaret has been with our firm since 2017 and focuses on negotiating leases and land transactions.

Margaret’s also has a “weekend job” as a professional sports photographer for the Associated Press.  She has photographed hundreds of college and professional sports events, including the 2012 Olympics and three Super Bowls.  Currently, she covers the NFL and travels to games every weekend during football season.

When she can find time, Margaret’s other hobbies are golf, skiing, and tennis.  She is a native of North Carolina, a loyal Tar Heel, and loves the outdoor life of Colorado. Margaret is married to a general contractor, and they divide their time between Tampa, Florida and Winter Park, Colorado.  They have recently added an adorable polar (white) lab puppy to their family.

Margaret is of counsel to the firm.  She is licensed in five states and currently splits her time practicing out of Tampa, Florida and Winter Park, Colorado.
